Legacy/Planned GivingAn important and lasting way to support DAT is to include the school in your estate plan. DAT’s legacy gifts are invested to support our long-term efforts to build an even stronger foundation for the school. DAT is a participating agency in Rose Community Foundation’s Live On Program.
A legacy gift can mean:
- Jewish continuity in America and around the world. A child receiving a day school education has a greater chance of remaining connected to the Jewish community than a child who does not receive such an education. The love of Torah learning and the importance of community are formed in the day school experience.
- Programming that promotes our Zionist mission – teaching our children to love and support Israel. Children who attend DAT learn not only, to read Hebrew, but to write and speak Modern Hebrew, preparing them for a lifetime of connections to Israel.
- Children will be able to receive both a quality Jewish and General Studies education that will enable them to be productive and accomplished members of their communities.
- Affordable Jewish education for all students, regardless of financial means. The cost of living Jewishly is often a barrier to parents. Camp, Israel trips, synagogue membership and day school tuition are a heavy burden for many. Your gift will lower the cost for all and make day school available to more students.
There are several ways to leave a legacy gift to DAT, including:
Bequests – The simplest way to ensure that you provide for the people and charitable institutions that you hold dear is to make provisions for them in your will.
Endowments – Memorialize a loved one, honor a special person in your life, or perpetuate your family's name by creating a designated endowment.
Securities - Donate appreciated long-term securities, avoid tax on appreciation and receive a tax deduction equal to the current market value of the stock.
Life Insurance - Take out a policy for DAT and receive a tax deduction for premium payments or donate policies whose protection you no longer need and receive an immediate tax deduction.
Charitable Gift Annuity - Receive guaranteed income for life or two lives at a generous payout rate and the balance will benefit DAT.
Charitable Remainder Trusts - Pays you income during your lifetime with substantial tax deductions. DAT is the recipient of the remainder at the end of the trust term.
Charitable Lead Trust - Donate part of your estate to a trust now and the income goes into a fund you set up for the school. This reduces estate taxes and the remainder goes to your heirs.
Ask your accountant or attorney how you can maximize your tax benefits while ensuring DAT’s future. For more information on giving to DAT, contact Amy Berkowitz Caplan at 720.859.6806 or email@example.com . Thank you for your support!
