Mrs. CJ Darby, Ext: 214

Director of Technology Services

Geometry, Algebra 2, Algebra 2 Honors, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Statistics

Mrs. Darby has been on staff at the DAT High School since 2014 and has taken on math teaching with a professionalism and enthusiasm that inspires our students to want to grow in their math knowledge. She earned a Bachelor’s from the University of North Dakota and has completed multiple AP Summer Institutes. Mrs. Darby is an Apple Certified Technician. She and her husband, Angel, live in Aurora, CO. 


Mr. Ed Davis, Ext 218

US History, CP and AP US Government and Politics

Mr. Davis joined the DAT HS teaching faculty after a successful career at Overland High School. He is a history enthusiast and relishes the opportunity to help students become critical historical thinkers. In the summers, he works for The College Board as an AP US History grader. Mr. Davis and his wife live in Parker, CO. 


Mrs. Faith Williams Dyrsten, Ext 115

Dean of Experiential Education, Administrator

Introduction to Design, Pre-AP and AP Drawing, AP Student Art, Independent Study Art

Mrs. Dyrsten has been on the DAT Faculty since 2011 working in the Art Department. She has built an amazing Art Program taking students from Introductory Classes to Expert classes at and above the AP level. Her complete love for art, passion for education, and commitment to our school and community make her an invaluable member of our staff. Mrs. Dyrsten holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from University of Denver. She and her husband, Charlie, live in Denver, CO.  


Rabbi Shmuly EngelExt 126

Gemara, Girls Advanced Gemara, Tefilla​

Rabbi Engel is a Denver native and moved back in 2014 after teaching and working in multiple cities across the Eastern Hemisphere. He holds semicha from the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY. Rabbi Engel is excited to be able to bring a passion for Tefilla and a love of learning Gemara to the students at DAT. He, his wife Zeldy, and their two children live in Cherry Creek North where they run Chabad of Cherry Creek.  


Ms. April Errico, Ext 208


Ms. Errico joined the DAT Faculty in 2016 as the Science Teacher in grades 6-9, in addition to offering support for our K-5 teachers in their science curricula. She is passionate about lab-based curriculum, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and child-centered education. Ms. Errico’s ability to motivate students allowing them to reach their highest potential is part of what makes her an exciting part of our DAT Community. She holds a Bachelor’s in English and Secondary Education from the University of Iowa. April lives in Denver.


Morah Liat GoldExt 219

Director of Israel Engagement


Morah Liat started teaching at DAT in 2015 as a Hebrew Language teacher and has taken on the role of running much of our student programming. She is an enthusiastic teacher who brings a love of Israel and Hebrew Language to each one of her students and to the entire high school community. Morah Liat holds a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Criminology from Bar Ilan and a an advanced degree in Education with an emphasis on Special Education from the Kibbutz Seminary Graduate School of Education in Tel Aviv. Morah Liat, her husband, and their three children live in Englewood, CO. 


Reb Noam Horowitz, Ext 211

Boys Advanced Gemara, Halacha, Senior Seminar, Israel Guidance​

Reb Noam joined the DAT teaching team in 2009 as a member of our Limudei Kodesh team. His background in youth leadership supports his passion to help build our school community. Reb Noam brings a passion for considering ethical and religious topics, engaging our students in many great discussions, debates, and Torah explorations. He attended Yeshivat Har Etzion, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Yeshiva University Honor’s Program, and has completed a certificate program in education at Azrieli School of Jewish Education. He lives with his wife Yael, and their three daughters on the East Side of Denver, CO. Their oldest daughter is currently a DAT student. 


Ms. Melissa Krocker, Ext 216

9th and 11th Grade English, SCOPE​

Melissa Krocker joined the DAT High School faculty in 2016 as English teacher and research specialist for SCOPE. Her travels to Costa Rica, India, Nepal, Wyoming, Ecuador, Portugal, and the Puget Sound inform her love of curiosity and adventure. Ms. Krocker is a passionate experiential educator who shares her innate curiosity with students helping them to think critically and creatively about the world. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies and Health from Grand Valley State University. Ms. Krocker, originally from Michigan, lives in Denver.


Dr. Julie Lieber

Senior Seminar in Jewish History

Dr. Julie Lieber is the Director of Education for Kevah. Dr. Lieber recieved her PhD in Modern European History from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lieber has taught extensively, including as a Professor of Jewish Studies at both the University of Denver and at the University of Colorado. She was also a sought after adult education teacher for Melton courses both here in Denver and in New York as well as at Drisha Institute for Women.  Dr. Lieber brings to our Senior Seminar in Jewish History a breadth of knowledge and a charasmatic style that brings history to life for our students. Dr. Lieber and her husband Eric Shafran live in Denver with their three children. Their oldest children are current DAT students. 


Mrs. Cheryl Makovsky, Ext 213

10th and 12th Grade English, 11th Grade AP Language and Composition​

Cheryl Makovsky joined the DAT team after a successful career teaching English and Literature at Arapahoe High School. She has been teaching at DAT since 2014 and is passionate about the written word and learning from humanities. Mrs. Makovsky’s tremendous love for literature is one she works to ingrain in her students through discussion, written response, presentation, acting, and other modalities. She has a Bachelor’s in English and Master’s in Humanities. As a long time Denver resident, Mrs. Makovsky and her husband Jack live in Southeast Denver.


Mr. Vincent RuscioExt 215

Director of Athletics​

Vincent Ruscio joined the DAT high school team in 2016 as our Director of Athletics. Mr. Ruscio is the Head Basketball coach at Denver Academy and has extensive experience in physical education and athletic operations. Mr. Ruscio will help guide us through our first year of membership in CHSAA. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance and Sports from Metropolitan State College of Denver. He lives in Englewood with his wife and daughter.


Mr. Donald Seese 

CP/Honors Chemistry, CP/Honors Biology, and AP Biology

Mr. Donald Seese has over 20 years experience of teaching sciences in the upper grade levels, and has worked in multiple fields. His passion for project and laboratory based science education are evident in his teaching philosophies. He holds a Bachelor’s in Microbiology from CSU and has completed coursework in Secondary Education at Metropolitan State. Mr. Seese and his wife live in Littleton and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. 


Mr. Jeffery Smith

AP Physics 

Mr. Smith has been teaching Physics for sixteen years, including twelve years of teaching AP Physics.  After seven years of teaching in Indiana, Mr. Smith moved to Colorado nine years ago and joined the faculty at Arapahoe High School. Mr. Smith will continue teaching at Arapahoe and will be joining us at the end of the day to teach AP Physics to our students. His passion for and knowledge of science, and physics in particular, make him a wonderful and exciting addition to our staff. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics Education, and a Master’s in Science Teaching with an emphasis in Physics Teaching. Mr. Smith, his wife, and their family live in Parker.


Morah Gilat SteinerExt 120


Morah Gilat came to DAT in 2016 after over ten year of experience teaching two year olds through adults.  She is a certified Special Education and Early Education teacher in both Israel and Colorado. She is a passionate, inspiring, engaging, and committed professional who believes in having students be actively involved in their education. Her love for Judaism and Hebrew language are easily seen through her classroom lessons. Morah Gilat and her family live in Highlands Ranch.


Mr. Lawrence Stroll, Ext 210

Director of College Guidance​

Algebra, Business and Personal Finance

Mr. Stroll is a dynamic and passionate Math educator who joined the DAT team in 2016 after teaching in Atlanta. He is involved in math and study skills tutoring, youth programming, and has been informally involved in college guidance. Lawrence holds a Bachelor’s in Communication and Biology from Yeshiva University, an LL.B. (equivalent to J.D.) specializing in Conflict Resolution and Negotiation from the University of Alberta Law School, and a Master’s in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of Alberta. Mr. Stroll switched careers to become a math teacher after a successful legal career and working as a Personal Wealth Manager. Lawrence and his wife, Lisa Stroll, moved to Denver this summer with three of their four children. Their two younger children are enrolled in DAT.


Mrs. Liora Wittlin, Ext 302

Dean of Student Affairs

Tanach, Senior Seminar, Israel Guidance

Mrs. Wittlin came to the DAT HS faculty with over a decade of teaching experience, most recently in Memphis, TN. She has designed and implemented Tanach curricula and loves guiding students as they explore the multitude of mefarshim and life lessons to be learned through Torah study. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Judaic Studies from Yeshiva University Stern College and was a YU Teach Legacy Heritage Fellow. Mrs. Wittlin, her husband Avi, and their four sons moved to Denver in 2016.
